I love checking on our Mahonia at the park. We go by it every time we walk in the park, and I always check.
Well, yesterday when we saw it, we could see tiny yellow flower buds.
Now we just have to hope we don’t have any really cold weather until it blooms.
Another happy sign of spring to come.
HAPPY GARDENING!!!

It just looks like a blob of jelly, but we know that they are frog eggs.
They show up in this holding pond about this time every year. There was water in the pond last week; I guess that’s when she laid her eggs. I am glad it was dry, because I had to climb down into the pond to get the picture, but we love seeing this.
There are several blobs like this, but this one is the most impressive.
I thought you might like to see another early sign of spring.

We cut all the broccoli florets to cook for Christmas. And when I went out the other day to check on the garden, I saw that they are starting to bud up again. These are the same broccoli plants that I planted last March, and they are still giving us broccoli. Apparently they don’t mind the cold…too much.
HAPPY GARDENING!!!

The cabbages that I planted in June aren’t making very big heads, but they are showing some good color.
The outer leaves are edible too; maybe we’ll pull a few and make cabbage rolls. Won’t they be pretty?
HAPPY GARDENING!!!

We have had some really cold mornings this past week: in the single digits!!! A few days it only got up into the 20’s for the high. Jon had to cover the Rosemary bush we planted this spring. It is too big to cover with a bucket, so he turned the wheelbarrow upside down over it. Hey!!! It is still alive, after a couple mornings of 6 degrees.
The rest of the garden is struggling, but surviving. Just look at the parsley.
I thought you might like to see some green today.
HAPPY WINTER!!!

Our friends are traveling to Germany to be with family, and they sent us pix from London.
We can’t be there ourselves, but isn’t it wonderful to see it through their eyes.
Thanks Violet!!!!!
