I know I’ve shown you this before, a few times, but today is another special day:  this is blog number 1500 for me.

I have used some pictures more than once, but each article is freshly written, with you in mind.

Thanks again, Mark, for my cool sign;  and thank you to all my faithful readers.

THANKS FOR READING!!!

Look what’s happening with last year’s kale.  The plants are sending up bloom spikes.  See that cluster in the middle?  Looks like broccoli, tastes like broccoli, and if left alone long enough those flower clusters will bloom, then make seeds for next year’s kale.

Actually, there is enough to eat some, and still save some for seeds.

It is finally Spring and I thought you might like to see my beautiful Forsythia.

I stuck a few twigs in a pot about 5 years ago, and left the pot under the kitchen window.  It has been growing there ever since.  The roots have grown deep into the ground, and there’s no way to move it now.  Wouldn’t want to anyway;  we can see the gorgeous blossoms out the window.

And being so close to the house, the deer leave it alone.  Win/win for us.

HAPPY SPRING!!!

Picture from the Internet

YOOHOO!!!!!

We now have Fiber Optic Internet Service.  May not mean anything to folks living in the big city, but we have been on the fringe of technology ever since we got here.  Now we have a speed of 80 Mbps!!!

Those guys were really efficient too.  They were here less than 20 minutes, and hooked up our house to the 21st century.

WE ARE HAPPY!!!

Today we have an appointment to have our new fiber optic cable connected.

For the past few days we have had no internet, so I have been doing everything using my phone.  It will be so nice to get back to normal.  And it will be faster.

See you soon.

Years ago my friend gave me a bunch of bulbs from her garden.  And every year in March they send up these delightful little flowers, Grape hyacinths.  They are only about 4 inches high, but there are about 50 of them in my wild garden.

And I always think of Sandra when they bloom.

As we walked into the Walmart garden center, we saw all these beautiful pansies.

Jon laughed and said, “Look, deer food.”

We don’t even bother planting pansies anymore.  But I sure love seeing them.

I promised you a picture of the Oregon Grape, Mahonia, at Meeks Park.  Here it is.

This is a typical silhouette for Mahonia, narrow at the bottom and wider at the top.  This one is about 7 feet tall, and as wide.  And the best part is that it lives right on the main trail in the Park, so we get to see it every time we walk there.

It is blooming now, looking beautiful and smelling divine.

Gorgeous clusters of yellow flowers all over.

Yep, I’m happy.

Remember I told you that I planted seeds for pink celery?  I planted them on February 9th.

They seemed to take forever to germinate, even on the heat mats.  I almost gave up on them,  but one day last week when we took all the flats outside for a little sunshine, I noticed these tiny sprouts.

We’ll see what happens.  I hope they grow.

HAPPY GARDENING!!!
