We repainted the haybale, so that our snowmen are now ready for Valentine's Day.

The folk art snowmen are still there;  Hey!  Snowman season is not over yet.  I'm glad:  we may still get to make a real snowman and go sledding.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

OK.  It's still cold, as you can see, but there IS sunshine to be had.  You just have to look for it.

This cool metal sculpture is at Meeks Park in Blairsville, on the side of the new pavilion.  It always makes us smile.

Thought you could use a winter smile about now.

HAPPY FEBRUARY!!!

I love dreaming about our upcoming garden.  These are my favorite seed catalogs.  They sell seeds AND they provide lots of good information about growing plants in your garden.

Now is the best time to request seed catalogs, and start thinking about this year's garden.

I just realized that TODAY is the Chinese New Year!!!  This is the year of the Tiger.

I read lots of interesting customs and superstitions associated with the Chinese New Year.  You can read about them here:

This is what I'm working on during this spell of cold weather.

I started making the dragonflies a couple weeks ago, and now I am in the process of positioning the dragonflies onto the background.  Not quite satisfied with the arrangement, yet.  But it should come together soon.  It is such a fun project.  I'll show it to you when it is finished and hanging on the wall.

Funny thing is:  I have to get upstairs and into my sewing chair before Gizmo takes it over for the day.  It's a race!!!

HAPPY WINTER!!!

This is a closeup of the deck rail.  Pretty, huh?

Our whole world was frosted last Friday.

Look at the Blueberry bushes!!

And that weird thing in the garden, is the cucumber trellis.  It is chicken wire, and frosted with Friday's ice.

HAPPY WINTER!!!

All day Thursday we were under a giant cloud of fog.  Overnight that fog solidified into ice on all the trees.

No snow on the ground, but a beautiful winterscape.  Everything was flocked!!!  And it lasted all day!

HAPPY WINTER!!!

We got our snow on Sunday night into Monday morning.  Not as much as NOAA predicted, but enough to make us smile.

There's nothing quite like waking up to snow.

HAPPY WINTER!!!

I was hoping to post pretty snow pictures today.

NOAA weather said we were supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow yesterday.  Fluffy snow came down about 4 am, but then it changed to rain.  I shouldn't complain, but rain and 38 degrees is (IMO) a waste of precipitation.

Well, while we were lamenting our lack of snow, this is what happened.  This bright, bold, beautiful rainbow showed up in our western sky and lasted a couple of minutes.  We stared at it from the deck as it came and went and came back.

Shame on me, I thought, to grouse about the weather.  Our weather is perfect.

STILL HOPING FOR SNOW!!!
