Last week we decided to go for a Jeep ride down to the Ocoee. The Ocoee is only about an hour away, so it's a nice little day trip for us.  We pack a little picnic, put the top down, and go.

I know that the river isn't always open for recreation, and I wasn't sure of the schedule, so I looked it up.  It turned out to be a good day to go watch the rafters, so we headed out.  It turns out that even though the river was running, the weather wasn't that cooperative.  We got 5 miles down the road, and the bottom fell out!!  The Jeep doesn't care if it gets wet, be we got soaked!!!  So we turned around and came back home.  Of course, it is July, so getting caught in a rain storm wasn't too bad.  Actually, I thought it was kinda fun.  Maybe we will do that again.

Anyway, I thought you might like to have a copy of the schedule, in case you want to take a little trip.

This just shows you how cool this park really is.  When they rebuilt the handrail for the little bridge, this tree was in its path.  So instead of removing the tree, they cut out the handrail to accommodate it.  I love that!!!

Who was there first?

And what could be a better way to welcome summer than a trip to the beach?  OK, we did it last week, but it sure felt like summer.  I loved walking along the beach, up to my knees in the Atlantic Ocean.

Now we can welcome summer in our garden:  day to day.  I will share pix as the season moves along.  There is always something fun happening in the garden.  Well, to me anyway.

HAPPY SUMMER!!!

We were in Nags Head for three sunrises, and we saw all three of them, from the beach.  We walked the two blocks to the beach at 5:30 AM!!  and watched as the sun rose out of the Atlantic Ocean.

It was so great to have shells in our pockets and sand in our toes.  I can't wait til the next time.

We are home now, but you know we couldn't go all the way to the Outer Banks and NOT get a picture of THE SIGN.

Of course you've seen the one just inside the NC/Tennessee border that says:  Manteo NC 563.  Well, the counterpart to that sign is in Manteo.  And since we were so close (10 miles) we HAD to get a picture of it.

You're welcome.

I had the nicest wake up text this morning:  My friend sent me this picture, and the caption was:  Amsterdam airport now.

How beautiful!!!  I'm not sure, but the ones in the bottom of the picture look like are carved of wood.  Anyway, they are all so PRETTY!!!!!

This bed of Bearded Iris took my breath away.  The purple was SO deep and its beard was bright orange.

I love how Iris bloom for a day or two, then close up and let the next one open.  It even works when you cut them and put them in a vase.  LOVE, LOVE LOVE!!!!!
