Have you noticed the smell of Sourwood lately?  It is that warm, sweet, (heavy) summer smell.  They are starting to bloom, and we can smell the flowers all along the loop walk.  

 

This one is in my yard, and the flowers haven’t opened yet, but they will soon.  The trees are fairly tall, the leaves are bright green, and the flowers emerge from the tips of the branches, like little fingers sticking out.

 

You know that summer is here when the Sourwood blooms.
