Don’t you wish you were a cat at our house?

No, really.  This is Gizmo.  He sleeps all day in my sewing chair.  I don’t sew too much anymore.  Unless, I can grab my chair when he goes out for a bit.  We also plan our vacuuming around his nap time.

It’s OK.  We love him.

HAPPY MAY!!!

This is Gizmo the day we brought him home from the Shelter, November 18, 2020.   They said he was two years old, but he was so little!!!  He weighed 6 lbs, 2 oz.  They also said that he was "at large."  For how long:  we don't know.  The first month, we took him to Dr. Van Horn for a baseline exam, and he was up to 8 lbs.

Well, fast forward two years, November 18, 2022.  We have had so much fun with him, and we are sure that he loves his home here with us.  He has the whole house, and all of outdoors.  He gets fed well, and gets lots of exercise.  And lots of love.

Oh yeah, and we weighed him the other day:  13 lbs!!!   He's one healthy, happy kitty.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, GIZMO!!!

This birdhouse is at least 8 feet off the ground, but Gizmo heard some activity in there.  So he climbed the tree, looked inside, then came down.  Momma bird was squawking at him the entire time.  What a racket.

What a character!!!

HAPPY SPRING!!!

Have you noticed all the wildflowers on our hillsides?  The yellow ones are Small's Ragwort (achoo), and the white ones are Ox-eye Daisies.  These are growing in my yard, just beyond the driveway.  We let them stay.  There are also a bunch growing in the garden;  they have to go.  You see how prolific they are:  ie. they take over.

Ox-eye Daisy or Chrysanthemum leucanthemum are common wildflowers in our area, and they are edible;  the young leaves taste lemony, and we use them in salads.  The flowers are edible too, but don't taste so good, but they won't kill you if you use them for decorating a cake or something.

I could have used a picture that I took of the hillside, but I chose this one because we are being watched.  Look right in the middle of the picture and you can see Gizmo looking at me.  Really, he was chasing a chipmunk or bug or something, but he camouflaged so well, I had to take his picture.

HAPPY GARDENING!!!

REALLY!!!  Jon took this picture early in the morning.  See the sun just coming up?

OK, for perspective:  that Dead End sign is 6 feet tall.  Gizmo is up the tree another 3-4 feet.  He's  hysterical.  He really keeps us laughing.  The deer love teasing him too.  They get up close and stomp and snort at him.  He just plays along, then runs home.

Thought you might enjoy a laugh to get your day off to a fun start.

HAPPY SATURDAY!!!

Here is Gizmo, on his perch.  He crashes here every day about 10 am.  That is, after he has tormented the deer, chased the leaves, and climbed the trees.

It's hard work being a kitty.

GOTTA REST NOW!!!

Jon heard a racket in the bathroom, and when he looked around the corner, Gizmo was attacking the TP.  He will play with anything!!!

I was a little too late to get the real picture.  Jon spritzed him with the water bottle, and the culprit took off, leaving this mess.

Anybody want a cat?    ;D

Just kidding.  We love him.  He makes us laugh.

How cute is this?  This is our new family member, Gizmo.  He came from the Valley River Humane Society in Murphy.

He was found on Crisp Road on November 10, and spent 8 days at the shelter.  He was given the name Gizmo when he arrived, and it just fits him.  But we do call him other things like Squeeky, and Rascal, and Houdini.  He's about 2 years old they said, and weighs about 6 pounds.  Of course, while he was at the shelter, they neutered him, and gave him all those shots.

We spent about 3 hours there.  We saw lots of kittens, maybe 30, and lots of adult cats, ages one year and up.  This little one came out of a box in the corner, as we were trying to decide which one to adopt.  He stole the show, not with any performance, but with his gentle, sweet personality.  We were sold.

We have been in animal shelters before, and sometimes it is heartbreaking.  I remember tears the last time I visited a shelter.  This time was different.  It was a kind and gentle place.  The people there were attentive and we could tell they were happy to be there.  The hardest part was seeing all those gray DSH (Domestic Short Hair) tabbies reminding us of Ranger and Blazer.  But all in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

And we came home with our new fur baby, Gizmo.

THAT'S MY STORY, AND I'M STICKING TO IT!!!

This is my friend, Diesel.  He belongs to the Bradleys, and we've known him for nearly 14 years.

He used to be large and in-charge, but now he's happy to just hang out on the porch or........the sofa.  Look, he has his own hand made quilt to snuggle.

Jon loves dogs and I do NOT.  But Diesel is such an old gentleman that even I can love him.  Really, just look at that face!!

LOVE YOU!!!

These are some of our neighbors:  Ron and Buttercup.  They have other family members too, but these are the two we usually see when we're out on our evening cruise.  Buttercup is a 10 year old Pomeranian and weighs about 5 pounds (soaking wet!).  She has a funny little voice, just barely a bark, but friendly.

Ron says she still has her Kujo, and can be a bit bossy when she needs to have her way.

I'm not sure who loves who more.....but you can kinda see it in the picture.

I'd love to show your pets here on the blog.  Just email me a picture and a little story, and we can share stories about our "kids" and their antics.

HAPPY DAYS!!!
