HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

 

Look how pretty the beets are this year.  I guess they loved all that rain.  The greens are looking great too.  Sometimes, they get a bit bedraggled, but so far they are doing well.  

 

Oh, don't mind that weed in the front.  It is a hickory tree growing from one of the two zillion hickory nuts that fall into the garden every year.  I didn't see it until I looked at this picture.  Guess I better go pull it out.  

 

Maybe I will cut some beet greens too for supper.  

 

HAPPY GARDENING!!!

 

The sun was out, and the temperature was almost 40 degrees, so we went for a walk yesterday.  I was surprised to see that there is still ice on the rocks just below our house.  It has been two weeks since our big snow, but it has been so cold, the ice and some of the snow hasn't melted YET!!! 

 

We are so happy to see that it should be getting warmer this coming week.  I hope you are warm wherever you are.

 

HAPPY JANUARY!!!

 

 

 

We didn't get hit like last week, but you can see the snow rolling across the mountains.  We can usually see the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance, but on Sunday, all we could see was snow heading our way.  The snow didn't amount to much, but the temperature dropped below 10 degrees, and the wind chill was worse.

 

So, we just stayed inside and got started making Valentines.  That always warms me up.

 

HAPPY JANUARY STILL!!!

 

This was our last sunset of 2024.  Today dawned a whole new year, giving us another chance to make a fresh start.  

 

We spent yesterday cleaning, washing, and getting ready for a new year.  And today we will cook black-eyed peas and cornbread for good luck in the new year.  Although if we were any more fortunate we wouldn't be able to stand ourselves.  

 

I hope this New Year will be full of love and everything good for all of us!

Today we have an appointment to have our new fiber optic cable connected.  

 

For the past few days we have had no internet, so I have been doing everything using my phone.  It will be so nice to get back to normal.  And it will be faster.
