Momma is out of hospital and finished with rehab.  It has been a whole month!!

 

She's getting stronger every day, and is ready to move back to Atria, her assisted living home.  Since transitions are so difficult on the elderly, my sisters have asked me to come stay the first few nights with her.  Even though her pictures and furniture and things are there, we want to be sure that she has somebody familiar there in the middle of the night.  

 

And so she doesn't feel babysitted, I can just be coming for a visit, and still preserve her dignity as an independent person.  She turned 95 in December, and is doing remarkably well.

 

Thank you, friends, for your loving thoughts and prayers.  We are going to make this a great new year!!!

 

I'll be on the lookout for something interesting to blog about.

Here we are again on the trail.

 

We saw lots of cars on the road today, but nobody on the trail.  Hmmmm.

 

It's really pretty down here.  Nice weather, fresh air, exercise.

Where in Five Forks is this?

 

If you don't know, then you've never been on the Creekside Hiking Trail. 

 

This is the bridge that crosses the creek about half way down the trail.  

 

The hiking trail has always been here.  And it's delightful spring, summer, fall, and winter.  There is always something new to see.  It's not a long or strenuous hike, just go slow on the uphill climb.  

 

You really should check it out.  It's beautiful right now.  I hope to see you out there.

We were at Meeks Park on Sunday , and saw this little family out on the water.  We asked to take their picture, and they all smiled.  They were having a great time, and Dad was doing ALL the work.

 

What a fun way to spend a summer day!! 

 

Happy Fathers Day!!  Oh, wait, that was in June.  Well, for these kids, it was Sunday.

Today is Friday the 13th.......uh-oh......not to worry.......no bad luck here......it's ALL good!  : )  

 

Historically Friday the 13th has to do with the attack, capture, and torture of the Knights Templar by the Catholic Church on Friday the 13th in the year 1307.  The reason for the attack was due to the fact that the Templars had gained too much power, thus threatening the power of the Catholic Church.

 

The next time it will occur is September 13th 2019.........you have a whole year to prepare........get busy!

I didn't forget Father's day, but I did forget to show you a great dad, Jon.

 

He and Jean raised two beautiful daughters:  Sheri and Shannon.  They are both strong, independent human beings, and make their father very proud.

 

I came on the scene after they were grown up, so I can't claim parenhood, but I am happy to say that they introduce me as their friend.

Everything's ready for the picnic today.  It starts at 1 pm.

 

We'll be there with a dish to share, and we hope you will be too.  

 

if you bring a couple lawn chairs, they'd be greatly appreciated.  We have seating for about 40, but there's plenty of room for extra chairs, and they are easier for group chat.

 

We're looking forward to meeting new friends.  Don't be afraid....We all wear name tags.  ;)
