Easy
Total Time:
3 hours and 45 minutes
Ingredients:
4 cups water
2 lbs lean ground beef
2 medium onions, grated
2 8 oz. tomato sauce
5 whole allspice
1/2 teas. red pepper
1 teas. ground cumin
4 Tbsp or 1/4 cup chili powder
1/2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
4 whole cloves garlic
2 Tbsp. white vinegar
1 Large bay leaf, whole
5 whole cloves
2 teas. Worcestershire sauce
1 teas. salt
1 teas. cinnamon
Directions:
Add ground beef to the water in a 4 qt or larger pot. Stir till beef separates to a fine texture. Boil slowly 1/2 hour.
Add all other ingredients. Stir to blend. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer uncovered for about 3 hours. stirring occasionally.
After 3 hours of cooking, remove the 5 whole allspice, 4 garlic cloves, 1 bay leaf, 5 whole cloves. I do so, by stirring and removing them with a small spoon, keep count, you don't want to leave them behind!
Serve over spaghetti noodles and top with finely grated Cheddar cheese.
Cook's Notes:
reheats very well. Can be frozen and reheated as well.
can be served on hot dogs.
Very popular, and a family favorite!
